Hello, I'm Desma Reid-Coleman, founder and owner
of four companies which operate here in Detroit. Quality Professional Services,
Fashion Sense, Innovative Staffing Services and Kary Kart.
I
currently employ 36 great people who are commited to our vision of providing
quality service in every customer interaction. I got the idea for my first
company when there was a leadership change at the business where I was the
Human Resource Executive. I had learned the industry. I was ready to hang up my
own sign and I was right to do it.
My secret to success is not really a
secret. I practice open door management. I encourage the flow of information
and communication. I believe wholeheartedly in building teams.
To
re-invigorate, I can be on any Golf Course, on any day of sunshine, at any time
of the year. I am a passionate golfer with a serious love of the game, and full
appreciation of the outdoors and nature and the beauty .
To get what
you want in life, Dream, plan and act. I'm Desma Reid-Coleman.

This interview was taped at
Detroit Public Television
to air in conjunction with Small Business School's regular weekly broadcasts. These people have been
recommended by the National
Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and the
Michigan Small Business
Association as people who are "respected by their industry and loved by
their community." They are givers and doers. And, they are all trying to heal
the heart of a broken city and make it a place where everybody is proud to say,
"I live in Detroit!"
In doing this brief profile, each person is then considered
for an entire half-hour show on Small Business School.
To develop their transcript, each of these people answered a
series of questions (the same questions within the online school). To be part
of these one-minute profiles, we believe that you should be a member of the
station and at least one of the local business groups that are committed to
building a new Detroit.
