Alice Maas, founder, IBI (Incorporated Business Interiors) Hi, I'm Alice Maas, founder of Incorporated Business Interiors, Inc.

Since 1987 we have worked to create customized workspace solutions so our clients can be productive and profitable. To do this we integrate quality products, design and service.

I grew up on corporate policies, procedures, and organizational processes. I found this structure stifling and non-motivating. By contrast, our work environment is "Team" oriented. Our staff is 'empowered' to be results oriented and responsive to client needs. We have completed more than 7,500 projects since 1988 using this team approach.

To grow a business, be passionate and know what your mission is and who your customers are!

This may seem simplistic, but as the business climate changes we must respond to remain profitable. Our resiliency and adaptability has kept us on track with our 'passion' to provide workplace solutions.

I remember an old saying: "Blacksmiths were great in their day, but who needs them anymore". To stay fresh, I read, meditate and exercise and believe it or not, I love going to work every day. I'm Alice Maas.

This interview was taped at KOCE Public Television to air in conjunction with Small Business School's regular weekly broadcasts. These people have been recommended by their local Chambers of Commerce as people who are "respected by their industry and loved by their community." They are givers and doers.

In doing this brief profile, each person is then considered for an entire half-hour show on Small Business School.

To develop their transcript, each of these people answered a series of questions, the same questions that Hattie asks the business owners to develop the content of each show and the same questions that are within the online school. To be part of these one-minute profiles, we invite you to become a member of your local station, at least one of the local business group, a national trade association, and Small Business School.
